When their is so much that you have to do at the end of the semester you are so overwelmed. So when all this comes to be i freak out and try to hold my emotions in becasue i hate to stress about school work. Because if you having something going on at home that you are stressed about also than its hard to worry about school work to. So when i have all this stress on my hands i just try to relax and take things one by one. When i am relaxing i dont think about all the things that i have to do instead i go and hang out with friends because they make me laugh and happy instead of thinking about all the boring things about school or the things that are going on at your house. This does help me out through the hard times in my life. But i always end up finishing up my school work before i think about the things that are going on through my life at the time that needs to be fixed. Being stress about school is a horrible feeling becasue you feel like you need some help.

What kind of teacher do i want to become
The kind of teacher i want to become is where the kids just love me and always have fun in my class and want to be in my class everyday. Being that kind of teacher i think is to be passionate about your job with teaching with the kids. To me i think this kind of teacher is where you would have in the class and make everything you do be fun. I also want to be that teacher that could win the best teacher award.

Looking at this picture i noticed that brick because that is the kind of brick i would like to use for when i build a house. Also i noticed the lady laying on the ground in the sand all by his self. She looks like she is homeless and doesnt have anywhere to be but just to be on the beach sleeping. The blue water and the waves remindes me of spring break at Port Aransas and how pretty it is at the beach but the seawall is very pretty.

ANYTHING TO WRITE ABOUT...
Right now I am soooo tired becasue we had workout this morning and it was hard and than I went and set in study hall for 3 hrs but I did get my homework done. Now I am in class and I am super tired. I am super exicted about traveling to arkansas saturday for our golf tournament. This will be my first golf tournament out of texas. But this trip will be exciting because we get to fly and hopefully play good I am very nervous about this tournament because I have to walk 36 holes the first day and 18 the second day. I have never walked that many holes ever and I have walked alot but not that many in one day. Than I had to make my schedule with my athletic advisor and I am not going to have a break until I graduate. :((( But I hope that time comes super fast and make it be worth it. Monday I found out that I am going to have a neice and I am soooo exicted about going shopping for her. She will be here on Aug. 20... My nephew is going to be a big brother and is going to be the best at it... Love them all...... :))))

One-on-one teaching
While working today with all the different roles that the kids will come up to you and talk to you about your paper. When a kid comes up to me crying will be very hard but i will try to work with them to look over the paper. If you have a kid that just doesnt care about their grade that they got than you need to get them somehow to want to care. You could try to work with a class about if they all do good on their papers than we can have a party with pizza and soda. If you have a begger that comes to you than you will have to tell them all i can do is look over it and try to help you out the best way i can. When the kid comes up to you and tells you that your grading is not good and that he/she has had someone look over it than i know that i will be mad because i knwo that i can grade the way i want to. Having one-on-one conferencing with the student with their writing is great becasue it is hard to work with everyone in the class about there papers. One-on-one is good to be able to help the student out if they are having a a trouble to word a sentence than it is good to get them started.

How to study with the writing workshop
UNITS OF WRITING
- What are my strengths as a teacher of writing
-What have my students studied before in writing
-What are my students interested in? What do they want to know as writers?

Several of the units of study are the same at both the upper grades and lower grades. Its good to get the first graders to fifth graders to be able to read text like writers.
Daily Focus lessons should be used all the time because it can open them with more ideas with writing. A good focus lesson is very clear with the objective.
Part of the lesson

- a story or a metaphore
- a report on a conference
- some public writing
How to get students involved in the lesson
TIME
A good way to get students involved is to have them talk together with their classmates about their outside work. Time is such a big factor in the workshop because you have to get everything done that matters.
According to strickland and strickland " conferring can also be so much fun, so satisfying".
Conferences need to always be kept short.

Reading and Literature
Having a interview you can get great information out of the student. You can get them to fill out a survey or have a writing conference. Reading logs is where the student writes down the titles, authors and perhaps genres of books that they have read... Teaching reading with connecting with literature is where if the student reads and connects it will be alot easier for them to understand it. A good way to get the students experiencing success with reading is using the jigsaw's. Literature Circles QUESTIONER, SUMMARIZER,CONNECTOR,LITERARY LUMINARY,ILLUSTRATOR, RESEARCHER these teach the students to have roles and responsibility's.

Being Reflexive
The best of what i have achieved in this assignment is that i know alot more about the first grade enviroment. Also how the class goes with the agenda. I got to see alot of different things in the classroom by which how she was getting the students to work with math, science, writing and all the other subjects. I loved how i got to see how she incorporate writing in her classroom. This leads me to be able to know how teaching is before i get into the workfield. I found that being able to go and see her classroom and how it is set up for the students was exciting to me. This lead me to find out how you are suppose to arrange your class for the students and see how you organize every different activity. I have struggled kinda with this only because i am not a real good writer and i never have been taught well growing up. But i worked around and solved my writing problem by to be able to get help and advise for my paper to be apropriate to turn in. Something i learned from this interview was that i know alot more about the classroom enviroment then i had before i went to her classroom. I would use this by being able to know how a classroom should be set up with all the different stations in the class. I arrived at this conclusion by having a great time to be able to meet a wonderful role model and get some very good advise.

Writing is something you do, not something you know"
Writing we do it everyday and we might not always know what are writing about. Writing comes sometimes as a fun thing or it could come as a not fun thing to do. Sometimes i know what the promt is but i dont know what to write about because nothing comes to my mind. Writing can be hard because you have to make sure that your writing is appropriate. Like last time we were writing in this class i had a quote that i had no idea about what to write because it made no sense to me. But it was something i had to do in class because we were assigned to write about our quote.

Clapping about me
The clapping was funny because some peoples things were kinda dumb like mine. But it was fine to clap for everyone because it showed we cared and listened to everyones prompt.

Response to Ray & Strickland
Ch.4
In this chapter Strickland talks about and explains about teaching Prewriting, Writers Notebook, Organizing Thoughts, Drafting and Responding to Writing, Keeping Track of Writers, Conferencing, Peer Response in Writing Conferences, Parading and Modeling for Students and Revision: Imagining the Better Text.
Strickland states that American schools are still in a "traditional mode focused on the alignment of a completed theme or essay with what is considered standard edited English." Strickland also says that the traditional method of writing is mostly on or focuses is on the product not the finish of the writing. Most of the time that is spent in the class is called the mechanics of all of the writing skills. Such as grammar, spelling, and usage of writing. Writing is so much more fun to the kids in the class when they get to pick their own topic and write about it. It is also good because the kids dont like to be assigned what to write because it is more boring to them and dont like when the teacher reads their paper. They like sometimes privacy about what they are writing because it might mean alot to them and dont want nobody to read it. The process approach just mainly focuses on the writing process, the writing that is learned, and creativity. Product approach is mostly more about the structure and the old time or the traditional way of teaching writing. The element of writing is about time, response, choice, structure, and community. Time is a big one because writing takes practice you cant just go and write and think your paper is good after the first draft. Also time is when they are having a writing workshop they can do 1 on 1 with the kids and check on their writing progress. Choice is about letting the kids make their own choice about what they want to write about. Also its their choice that they want to share through publication. Response is always good to have on the kids paper because it can show what they need to work on. Structure is all about having everything organized and in a structural way. During writing workshop you shouldn't control the writer but to have the framework that they need to do. Community is to respect each others ideas, viewpoints and accomplishments. A good way is to have a bulletin board outside of your class room and show how your kids are doing in the class. The best thing is to make sure that the students can trust their teacher and the teacher can trust her students.

Response to ch. 1-3
Reading ch 1-3 was about the importance of writing and how writing should be taught in the class. The author says that the best way is to motivate them to want to write. Being in 1st grade writing isnt what the kids want to be doing. So you would have to help them out and make writing fun and maybe that will motivate them to want to write. I know a great thing that would be fun for students to want to write is. Instead of reading a book aloud to them have it where they can watch it and it makes them want to listen to the book more if someone makes funny sounds while reading a book. The students think sometimes are boring because they don't mostly get into. So if they like the reading then you could get them to write a paragraph about the favorite part about the book. So it is just about wanting to motivatie them to want to write. So you sometimes have to make writing fun for the kids. Also it is great to make kids to be creative with their writing. You dont want the kids to think that they are being punished by writing that is why you as a teacher has to make it fun.

My philosophy of learning
The best way for me to learn is when i can see something and can talk about it with other students. Working in a group is alot better for me becasue i can hear the ideas that they have also. Working in groups is what we do alot in college in almost every class. I also like to see things because it helps me learn better. If we are suppose to do something in class i like to see what it is suppose to look like before i start working on my own work.

readiness
I belive that i have to be ready myself before i know that kids will come to my class and want to learn. When kids are going to the 1st grade they are hyper but also at the same time they are ready to learn some new things that they didnt in kinder. Students like to follow what the techer is doing so you have to be a good role model for them. So i have to make sure that i am ready for the week and have my class organized for them to come in class to learn and have fun. I dont want them to come to class and see me not organized or prepared for the class becuase if they see that then they will end up to start becoming behind.

Shitty First Drafts Reflection
I am the same way as Anne Lamott I write horrible first drafts and then correct it after someone looks over it. My first draft is always where I just go and write down what is on my mind about the topic that I am going to write about. Like she said in the paper that she always likes the second draft and it sometimes makes her laugh. But to fix up the first draft you have to go over it with a color pen to make corrections. She didnt say anything about someone to look over it but to me I think it is so good to have someone else like the writing center to look for mistakes that I couldnt catch. Going over this makes me want to make sure everything I write is looked over not only by me but also some other person.

My name is Katie Belser... I am from Ingleside Texas. I graduated in 2007 from Ingleside High School. I am getting my degree in Education specializing in reading... :) I am in TAMUCC STUDENT READING COUNCIL. I work in port aransas at Newport Dunes Golf Course... I have a boyfriend that i have been with for 4 years and i love him :) My parents are great i can ask them for anything and they will hand it over to me. :)))))) I am ready to start teaching and have my own classroom :)
